New Chairman for CNNWC

18/05/2011
At the Annual General Meeting on 21st May, Dr David Rhodes was elected chairman of the City of Nottingham Neighbourhood Watch Council together with a full Board of NW representatives. Ch. Insp. Matthew McFarlane explained the Police intention to deploy the alert messaging system across the entire City by October 2011, through 21 local-area-named systems, each associated with a particular Police team. Guest speaker Richard Stones spoke about his international work with the EU and NATO, explaining how digital technology is being used to improve the security of industrial and large public spaces against crime and terrorist attack. In his annual report, Dr Rhodes thanked the NW community for their ongoing commitment and support for community well-being. His inaugural message was to exhort both the Police and NW community to improve and develop the two-way communication that is the key to tackling crime and anti-social behaviour; technology is a great help but not a solution on its own.
