Rise in Burglary of Homes in Forest Fields and Basford

Alert message sent 13/06/2017 14:10:00

Information sent on behalf of Notts Police

Dear Alert Member,

During the last month, there has been a rise in the number of burglaries of homes in the Forest Fields and Basford

Two incidents reported yesterday (Monday 12th June) show what has sometimes been taking place. At a home in Forest Fields, a ground floor window had been left open overnight, so a thief entered, stole the car key which was left out and then stole the car from outside.

In New Basford, a first floor window was left open which was just above a low roof and a thief has climbed onto the roof to gain easy access to the window.

Several other burglaries have taken place recently where front or rear doors have been left unlocked when the occupant has been at home, Thieves have then entered and stole items including laptops and handbags.

Please make life as difficult as possible for thieves.

Don't leave any ground floor windows open during the night or windows on the first floor open near a low roof.

When you are at home, make sure front and rear doors are kept locked.

Make sure windows are closed and doors locked when you go out.

Don't leave laptops, mobile phones and other valuable items in view .Make sure all keys are safely put away in a cupboard or drawer.

Don't store large amounts of money at home.
